Putin’s aide says measures to ensure mine safety insufficient

MOSCOW, Dec 13 (PRIME) -- The measures taken to ensure safety of the mines are insufficient, presidential aide Igor Levitin said on Monday as cited by the presidential administration.

"Levitin noted that the increase in industrial safety on the Russian coal mines is an urgent topic for the coal industry of the country. But in the current circumstances in this area, the measures taken earlier were not sufficient: accidents at the coal mines that take human lives become a confirmation," the Kremlin said.

The official chaired a meeting of a council on Monday that was to prepare a protocol with urgent recommendations to the federal agencies and regions.
